Interim Relief for Claiming 87A Rebate AY 2024-25

Interim Relief for Claiming 87A Rebate AY 2024-25

1. Hon’ble Bombay High Court vide interim order dated 20/12/2024 directed CBDT to issue the requisite notification and extend the deadline for the revised and belated ITR filing date till 15/01/2025.

2. This deadline is being extended for those taxpayers who are eligible to claim Rebate U/S 87A . A resident individual whose income does not exceed Rs. 7,00,000 in the new regime and Rs. 5,00,000 in the old regime are eligible for Rebate u/s 87A.income.

3. The benefit of Rebate U/S 87A can be availed  for various special rate incomes, including short-term capital gains on equity shares or equity oriented mutual funds taxable at 15% under Section 111A.

4. A peculiar situation happened on July 5, 2024. Until 4th July 2024, Income Tax Utility correctly calculated the amount of rebate. However, an update to the Income Tax Utility on 5th July 2024 prevented new regime taxpayers from claiming rebate under 87A from Short Term or Long Term Capital Gain.

5. The modification of the utility for Assessment Year 2024-2025 midway through the assessment year has caused undue hardship to taxpayers, particularly those relying on the rebate under Section 87A.

6. The situation was not better even for taxpayers who filed ITR before 5th July 2024 . Once the ITR filing deadline was over, the tax department started sending defective notices under section 139(9) to taxpayers who claimed a rebate under 87A. A defective notice would mean that the original ITR will get accepted only if the defect is cured. Owing to this, the taxpayers were indirectly forced to give up on the claim of 87A and pay the difference amount of tax.

7. All over the country, taxpayers approached the courts in the hope of justice. The Chamber of Tax Consultants filed Public Interest Litigation (PIL). The Chamber of Tax Consultants argued before the Bombay High Court that the primary problem was the tax department modifying the logic of its own ITR filing utility software for AY 2024-25 (FY 2023-24) midway through the assessment year.

8. The Income Tax Department answering the allegations claimed that the modifications were required to align with the legal needs and avert the peculiarities in rebate claims.

9.  But this reasoning has been dismissed by the court, saying that procedural amendments must not override the substantive rights granted through legislation. The principle behind Section 87A has always been to ensure that taxpayers in lower-income brackets are not burdened unduly, and the arbitrary disabling of the rebate through the modification of utility software undermines this legislative intent.

10. Now, thanks to Bombay High Court Judgement, taxpayers who filed an ITR by forgoing 87A in response to the defective notice can now file a revised ITR claiming the tax rebate under section 87A before the extended due date of 15th January 2025.

11. The issue still is not resolved for those taxpayers who took no action after getting the defective ITR notice to claim section 87A rebate. These taxpayers as of now seem to have only option of filing a belated ITR, the same as those who did not file any ITR, but they may be disadvantaged as they may have to forgo certain deductions and losses.

12. The High Court also directed in this interim order, that all taxpayers should be given the opportunity to exercise their rights without procedural impediments. A notification to this effect from CBDT is expected, and it is hoped that it brings some procedural clarity in such cases where the returns are invalidated as no response was filed to defective notices.”

13. This is only an interim relief as the final judgement will be pronounced on January 9, 2025. The court will analyze the wider implications of software changes and their impact on the rights of the taxpayer.

14. The decision of HC is a welcome step and relief to Tax Payers. Also, the extended date of 15th January will help in smooth filing of revised returns.

15. However, the CBDT has yet to release any official order on the extension of the deadline to file rebates under Section 87A. In light of the HC Judgement, the Income Tax Department is expected to bring a Notification soon.

Garena Free Fire: Top 5 best Characters and abilities needed for Squad Mode

Garena Free Fire: Top 5 best Characters and abilities needed for Squad Mode

Characters play an innate role in Free Fire to achieve a BOOYAH! in a game. The Special abilities of characters give a huge advantage in an intense gunfight. Free Fire has 32 known characters except for Adam and Eve. Likely we will be discussing two Free Fire Characters Snowelle and DJ Alok. We all know every character in Free Fire has a unique ability of their own. Which is very helpful in the game. Not only Gun skins, pets, and bundles people crave for Characters in Free Fire. We will discuss the top 5 best abilities and characters needed for squad mode in Free Fire.

Why Choose the Best abilities and Characters in Free Fire?

Choosing characters is also very important in squad mode if all the players have the same characters it’s of no use. But characters with the right combination is really good to get a Booyah. Some characters really do well with some combinations because of their abilities.

What are the main abilities needed in a match?

Players face difficulty in recoil, health, movement speed, fall damage, and ammo sometimes. These are the main major problems that a player faces in a game or during an intense gunfight. So, below is the list of characters and combinations that we think are the best. This combination of abilities and characters will be helpful to you.

#1 Snowelle’s Nano Nerves:

Snowelle’s ability is called “Nano Nerves“. It prevents enemies hit by Snowelle from using their active abilities for a short duration. Additionally, enemies hit by Snowelle will not be able to convert EP into HP. This makes Snowelle the perfect counter for characters like DJ Alok, Clu, or K. Any character that makes use of EP to heal is at a disadvantage against her thanks to her perk. It will be interesting to see how players utilize her strengths against characters that are the meta in Free Fire.

This character really helps your squad from getting affected by the enemy team characters. As, her ability will stop all players abilities to work for a short period of time.

#2 DJ Alok’s Drop the Beat:

DJ Alok is not only famous in his real life but also very famous in the game. One of the choosiest characters.

His ability to Drop the beat creates an aura of 5 meters that recharges 5 HP for about 5 seconds and increases the speed of teammates’ movement by 10%.

At his maximum level, the movements of teammates increase by 15% and restore 5HP for 10 seconds. This character lets players be quite aggressive.

DJ Alok has a very good advantage and is the most favorite of all in Free Fire. He can increase your movement speeds and regain HP after or during an Intense fight.

#3 KSHMR ‘K’ Master of All:

His ability is ‘Master of All’ in two modes – Jiujitsu Mode and Psychology Mode.

Jiujitsu Mode foes within 6m get a 500% increase in EP Conversion Rate. Psychology Mode recovers 2EP every three seconds, up to 100 EP. This mode has a cooldown time of 20 seconds. At the maximum level, only Psychology Mode will work compared to the First level. So, we can recover 2EP in 2 seconds and up to 150 Ep. His set is named as ‘Heightened Awareness Set.’

This character is very helpful to recover tour EP. If you fall behind the safe zone your health drops during that time so KSHMR can help you to regain your EP immediately during that time. Which is a great advantage during that time.

#4 Moco’s Hacker’s Eye:

Moco is also a powerful character akin to DJ Alok. Her ability is called Hacker’s Eye.

This ability tags the opposition for two seconds upon being hit, at the base level.

When her character level reaches to maximum level 8, so one tag on the foe will last for five seconds.

So this character can tag 2 players in enemy team and gives a advantage to knock them down easily during the game, If your team has short of teammates this can be very handy and helpful.

#5 CLU’s Tracing Steps:

Clu is a Private-detective character in Free Fire. Her special ability is ‘Tracing steps’.

This special ability allows her to detect the exact position of the enemy if they are not in one position.

Knowing the enemy positions, she can play aggressively in the early game and get easy eliminations.

After reaching level 4 her teammates can also locate the exact position of foes.

DJ Alok forms a synergy with her, this allows her to play aggressive.

Using this character you can know the danger around you and trace enemy footsteps and can attack players easily in the game.

These are the top 5 best characters for squad mode in free fire.

Note: These are the top 5 players with good abilities and combinations for a squad mode match according to the author’s views. But these combinations change based on your gameplay.

Nuclear Football: Portable Gaming PC With Liquid Cooling

A Powerful Gaming Rig

‘Nuclear Football’ Is A Portable Gaming PC With Liquid Cooling

source: fossbytes

Wouldn’t it be awesome if you had VR-capable gaming PC with you every time you were stuck somewhere on a trip?
This is exactly what inspired a gamer to build a portable gaming PC, dubbed the ‘Nuclear Football,’ that costs less than what a gaming laptop of similar specs would cost.
This unique portable gaming PC fits easily in a luggable case which is basically a modified Pelican 1525 case. The case holds the desktop PC hardware, a liquid cooling system, and a 23-inch monitor. There are cut-outs as well for accommodating ports
"The Nuclear Football runs on a Ryzen 5 2600 processor and it has an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super graphics card along with 16 GB of DDR4 RAM and 256GB SSD. The entire thing runs on a Gigabit B450-i Aorus Pro WiFi motherboard with a Corsair 600W power supply."
There is a water cooling gear from Alphacool in the gaming rig and a custom controller as well that links to the computer —to allow monitoring of temperatures and fan speeds through a widget on the desktop.
This cooling system can regulate the temperature around 38 degrees Celsius (100 Fahrenheit) while gaming, and about 44 degrees Celsius (110 Fahrenheit) under full load.

The gamer who goes by u/thegarbz on Reddit, confesses that the entire setup looks both awesome and kind of ridiculous at the same time. But it’s much cheaper than a gaming laptop with similar specs and it also has a larger display than you’ll find on any other notebook.

The display on Nuclear Football is a Dell 23-inch monitor that is fitted on the top of the case so that Pelican 1525 can be opened like a gaming laptop. Also, this portable gaming PC does not have a built-in keyboard but you can use a wired or wireless external keyboard.
Another interesting aspect of Nuclear Football PC is that it has been designed to be plugged in and not to run on battery power.  So it’s portable in the sense that you can move it around easily and it takes seconds to set up but you will need to plug it in for use.
Nevertheless, this portable gaming PC is perfect for folks like u/thegarbz who would like a full desktop gaming experience while staying in a hotel or other such cases.

Thank You!

RealMe 2 : PREQUEL of RealMe 1

Sequel 'Prequel' of RealMe1 : RealMe 2

Lets go with Q & A format this time, lets get started.

Question

Is it worth the hype?

Answer Part - 1

RealMe Launch Event is live right now which you can watch here.
If you are interested in buying you can get it here
There is lot of things going on right now on twitter page of Realme (@realmemobile)
Also they will be something else besides RealMe 2 as per their tweets.

Answer Part - 2

So, now back to original question, is it worth it?
In one word NO. And here is why,

It has Snapdragon 450 SoC while it is not bad, its not worth Rs. 8,990/- (which is base price for RealMe 2)

RealMe 1 was the true king of the budget. Helio P60 is more powerful then Snapdragon 636 and that is something. Most of the SD 636 SoC starts at 15k atleast, while Helio P60 Starts at 20k (apart from RealMe1 obviously).

So if you still want to buy a great phone around 10,000/- RealMe 1 is still the best but if you are planning to buy RealMe 2 I would advise otherwise.

It still have ColorOS and its a big no no. I mean on 6 GB Variant of RealMe 1 only 3.8 GB RAM is available in idle, i.e. it consumes 2.2 GB RAM meaning that 3 GB RAM variant is practically useless.

Apart from Question

It is not that it is all bad for RealMe 2.
It has triple slots (2 SIM + Micro SD) and Duel 4G VoLTE Standby + 5 GHz WiFi (That is something every brand do, even in budget segment).
It features Dual Camera this time and even single sensor gave tough fight  to Redmi Note 5 Pro.
It has 4230 mAh Battery.
It has a Notch - it is trend for a reason (reason being Apple like removing removing 3.5mm jack, seriously why do you exist Apple).
It now have finger print sensor (Finally!)

So I'll leave final choice to you guys but my opinion is that RealMe 2 is not worth it.

You also have plenty of other options as well like Redmi Y2 at this price point. I'll add detailed list of alternatives at a later date. Detailed Specs List(GSM Arena) can be found here.

Edit - 1

2nd surprise is supposed to be 2 winners of RealMe 2. So that was a bit let down for "2nd Surprise." Also list I talked about earlier is a work-in-progress and it will take some time so please be patient.

Edit - 2

As promised i'm here with alternatives for RealMe 2.

  Option - I

RealMe 1

This is obvious choice it has exact same camera (2nd camera on RealMe 2 is just decoration believe me) and it offers double the performance at same price and even has option for 6 GB RAM variant (my review is here)

Only trade off as well as sacrifice is finger print sensor (and a notch to lose if you are a notch fan).

RealMe 1 is way better then RealMe 2.

  Option - II

Redmi Y2

If you want a good phone that is NOT OPPO then Redmi Y2 should be your obvious choice. It has SD 625, 18:9 Display, Good battery life, More trusted brand (i.e. more then RealMe), way batter selfie camera (16MP with Flash), REAL(and also Rear, but really meant REAL) Dual camera, the only loss is slight lower battery capacity (slight because of batter battery management on MIUI) and just a notch.

Verdict

If you are a selfie lover or you don't like OPPO or you fingerprint sensor is must then go for Redmi Y2. It has lower but respectable performance then RealMe 1 but it obviously is twice as fast as RealMe 2.

If you want really good performance with one of the best cameras in the budget segment then go for RealMe 1. It can compete with Redmi A2 in terms of performance and row power. You wont miss fingerprint sensor as much as you think. Face unlock works great even in artificial lighting and low light conditions as well and low light performance of RealMe 1 beats even Redmi Note 5 Pro.

My personal choice would be RealMe 1 as I can live without fingerprint scanner and a camera that is comparable to Redmi Note 5 Pro is not a bad camera in anyway.

Bonus

If you want to increase your budget to 20,000/-

If I were to answer this a week ago my answer would be to buy Redmi A2 blindly. It has everything (3.5mm not included thanks to Apple) great camera, premium design, smooth performance and beautiful display without notch (may be not everything). Here comes the BUT POCO F1 has been launched so you know the answer.

P.S. POCO F1 will be reviewed ASAP as I get my hands on it.

That will be it for now. See you Later.
