Sequel 'Prequel' of RealMe1 : RealMe 2
Lets go with Q & A format this time, lets get started.
Question
Is it worth the hype?
Answer Part - 1
RealMe Launch Event is live right now which you can watch here.If you are interested in buying you can get it here
There is lot of things going on right now on twitter page of Realme (@realmemobile)
Also they will be something else besides RealMe 2 as per their tweets.
Answer Part - 2
So, now back to original question, is it worth it?
In one word NO. And here is why,
It has Snapdragon 450 SoC while it is not bad, its not worth Rs. 8,990/- (which is base price for RealMe 2)
RealMe 1 was the true king of the budget. Helio P60 is more powerful then Snapdragon 636 and that is something. Most of the SD 636 SoC starts at 15k atleast, while Helio P60 Starts at 20k (apart from RealMe1 obviously).
So if you still want to buy a great phone around 10,000/- RealMe 1 is still the best but if you are planning to buy RealMe 2 I would advise otherwise.
It still have ColorOS and its a big no no. I mean on 6 GB Variant of RealMe 1 only 3.8 GB RAM is available in idle, i.e. it consumes 2.2 GB RAM meaning that 3 GB RAM variant is practically useless.

Apart from Question
It is not that it is all bad for RealMe 2.
It has triple slots (2 SIM + Micro SD) and Duel 4G VoLTE Standby + 5 GHz WiFi (That is something every brand do, even in budget segment).

It features Dual Camera this time and even single sensor gave tough fight to Redmi Note 5 Pro.
It has 4230 mAh Battery.
It has a Notch - it is trend for a reason (reason being Apple like removing removing 3.5mm jack, seriously why do you exist Apple).
It now have finger print sensor (Finally!)
So I'll leave final choice to you guys but my opinion is that RealMe 2 is not worth it.
You also have plenty of other options as well like Redmi Y2 at this price point. I'll add detailed list of alternatives at a later date. Detailed Specs List(GSM Arena) can be found here.
Only trade off as well as sacrifice is finger print sensor (and a notch to lose if you are a notch fan).
RealMe 1 is way better then RealMe 2.
Edit - 1
2nd surprise is supposed to be 2 winners of RealMe 2. So that was a bit let down for "2nd Surprise." Also list I talked about earlier is a work-in-progress and it will take some time so please be patient.
This is obvious choice it has exact same camera (2nd camera on RealMe 2 is just decoration believe me) and it offers double the performance at same price and even has option for 6 GB RAM variant (my review is here)
Edit - 2
As promised i'm here with alternatives for RealMe 2.Option - I

Option - II
Redmi Y2
If you want a good phone that is NOT OPPO then Redmi Y2 should be your obvious choice. It has SD 625, 18:9 Display, Good battery life, More trusted brand (i.e. more then RealMe), way batter selfie camera (16MP with Flash), REAL(and also Rear, but really meant REAL) Dual camera, the only loss is slight lower battery capacity (slight because of batter battery management on MIUI) and just a notch.
Verdict
If you are a selfie lover or you don't like OPPO or you fingerprint sensor is must then go for Redmi Y2. It has lower but respectable performance then RealMe 1 but it obviously is twice as fast as RealMe 2.
If you want really good performance with one of the best cameras in the budget segment then go for RealMe 1. It can compete with Redmi A2 in terms of performance and row power. You wont miss fingerprint sensor as much as you think. Face unlock works great even in artificial lighting and low light conditions as well and low light performance of RealMe 1 beats even Redmi Note 5 Pro.
My personal choice would be RealMe 1 as I can live without fingerprint scanner and a camera that is comparable to Redmi Note 5 Pro is not a bad camera in anyway.
Bonus
If you want to increase your budget to 20,000/-
If I were to answer this a week ago my answer would be to buy Redmi A2 blindly. It has everything (3.5mm not included thanks to Apple) great camera, premium design, smooth performance and beautiful display without notch (may be not everything). Here comes the BUT POCO F1 has been launched so you know the answer.
P.S. POCO F1 will be reviewed ASAP as I get my hands on it.
That will be it for now. See you Later.
